GPS have become common place in vehicles all over the world.  Why? Convenience!  Everybody loves knowing where they are at and how to get where they are going no matter where they are at.  They are great when going on vacation and can help you find your way to where you are going without having to worry about road signs and maps.  They are also great for helping you find that really great restaurant downtown that nobody knows about.  One of the most popular brands of GPS is the Magellan and there are a few different models available.  Here we will discuss some of the models and features to help you make a good selection.

Magellan Triton 2000

The newest Magellan GPS on the market is the Triton 2000.  It is designed for outdoor use and features a new and much easier to use interface than older models.  There are expected to be 6 different versions of the Triton 2000 available but the specifics for each model have yet to be made public.  All tritons will feature a 2.7” screen and port for an SD card.  Also included will be an electronic compass and a barometer.  Some of the features will be a less typical than what you usually find on a nice GPS.  Expect a digital camera, speaker with microphone and a built in flashlight.

RoadMate 1200

This GPS is an entry level model designed for first time GPS buyers.  It is simple and easy to use.  The 3.5 inch screen is easy to read and the unit itself is light yet durable.  While there are no frills to speak of, this GPS still gets the job done when you need to get from point A to Point B.  While it is certainly not advanced it is a good buy for newcomers.

Magellan Maestro 4050

This is the most advanced version of the Maestro series.  You can expect to get up to 3 hours of use from this product.  This is a lot considering that it has a 4.3” LCD display screen.  The big feature with this model is the voice recognition software and the traffic receiver.  This GPS really packs a punch, but it is also quite expensive.  The main difference between this model and the 4040 are the features previously mentioned.  If traffic and voice recognition aren’t important to you, stick with the 4040 model.
